still trying to export/import wirelist from electrical to inventor. 2010 tutorials are lacking.
i WAS able to export list from electrical. During import nothing seems to happen, but, when checking the xfer log all wires are on a layer that is not (compatible) in Inventor.
I dont understand the relationship entirely. I created the layer in electrical (from scratch) and changed all wires to be on that layer. I dont see how to select a library layer, one that is already acceptable so I created a similar layer in Inventor. When i import i am not asked to relate the layers, that is to show (electrical) where i created the layer in Inventor.
What really needs to be done here. Say i have my completed schematic in electrical.......
How do i create a layer in electrical that the program will like? How do i get at library (established) layers?
How do i create the same layer in Inventor so that both programs see it.
Windows 7 64 bit
Inventor 2012 Professional
Dell T1600 CPU E31245 @ 3.30GHz
8 GB RAM

Hi.
When you created a layer in AcadE, did you use the "Create/Edit Wire Type" command?
What's important, is that the wire types you create in AcadE (i.e. the layer name), must match the name of a wire type in Inventor. If you don't have a matching wire type in Inventor, you can create it in a couple of ways.
1. On the fly in the "Import Harness data"-dialog, by right-clicking the missing wire (BLACK_2.5mm2) in this picture, and select "Add to Cable & Harness Library".
2. Open the Cable & Harness Library, and add the wire type manually. The NAME of the wire type must match the layer name of AcadE's Wire Type.
Hope this is helpful.
