multiline attributes in title block

When the attributes are completely empty, a project wide title-block update will correctly fill in all initial values for the attributes. It is when I need to change an existing value, none of the multiline-attributes take on their new values. Erasing the attributes contents (by hand), and then doing an update, is once again successful. I cannot set the .wdt value to nothing (erasing) and do an update ( it will not take new value of nothing).
FYI, when I do manual editing of multiline attributes, I do have an external editor configured to popup. Is this interfering?
I really need multiline behavior, and although I could simulate the behavior with multiple singleline attributes, the autowrap feature is what I am trying to take advantage of.

Just wondering if anyone has found a solution to this issue? I am experiencing a similar problem. I am setting up a new client's title block to use with AE, and no matter what I try, I can't get the titleblock update to edit the multiline text. The attribut tag is "TITLE" and I have entered "TITLE = DWGDESC" in the .WDT file. All the other attributes I have listed in the .WDT file are being updated just fine. Is there a simple solution here? Does AE require 3 seperate title description attributes?
I'm using AE2011. This is the first time I have used AE in more than a year, and I'm jumping from 2009 to 2011, so maybe I'm just making an elementary mistake.
Any help would be appreciated.

MIke, the three description lines are mapped as DD1, DD2, and DD3. DWGDESC is the old drawing value when the program only offered one description line per sheet. DWGDESC still functions but is the same as DD1. You need to map TITLE1 = DD1, TITLE2 = DD2, and TITLE3 = DD3. I prefer to use the WD_TB mapping method from Title Block Setup so no external .WDT file is necessary. In that case, you just match up Drawing Values Description Line 1, Description Line 2, and Description Line 3 with your TITLE1, TITLE2, and TITLE3 attributes.

Thanks Doug,
I will give that a try. I didn't realize that DWDESC has been replaced with DD1, DD2 & DD3.
Oh, if you are ever coming to Calgary, let me know. I would love to do some more training with you.

Hi Mike! The DWGDESC is left over from when the program allowed only one drawing description line. They opted to use DD1, DD2, and DD3 as the designations for the improved three lines of description per drawing. But they kept DWGDESC as a recognized parameter so legacy title blocks would continue to function properly. DD1 and DWGDESC are treated in the code as being the same thing.
I was in Canada a couple of times last year but I was working with ecscad for those projects. I don't foresee any AutoCAD Electrical classes in Canada anytime soon, but that could change without warning. If you're interested, I am teaching a class in Atlanta later this month and it is an open class - anyone can sign up. I could get you plugged into it easily if you want to give me a call or send an e-mail to me via my Web site.
Most of the training I do now is part of my comprehensive implementation plan. Dealers and customers alike have realized that a 4 or 5 day course that covers the fundamentals is usually not enough to effectively implement the software. Additional application-specific training and subsequent mentoring is necessary.
My comprehensive implementation plans include a process assessment that evaluates your current design platform, identifying bottlenecks and workflow issues, and quantifying the gains you might expect from a proper implementation of AutoCAD Electrical. I follow that up with fundamentals training, application specific training, and mentoring. The information gleaned from the process assessment helps me customize the training to target your specific use of AutoCAD Electrical.
The comprehensive implementation plan has proven to be the most successful method for getting customers up and running quickly and efficiently with AutoCAD Electrical. Some dealers no longer offer an open fundamentals course, opting instead to use the comprehensive implementation plan exclusively. The class I will teach in Atlanta later this month will be the final open class for this dealer, as they have chosen to standardize on the comprehensive implementation plan, in order to equip their customers with every advantage for a successful implementation of AutoCAD Electrical.

I've used this successfully now, however my only complaint is that when I do a drawing list report, I have to include DD1, DD2, and DD3 in separate columns. This breaks up the description text on the report as there are large gaps between some of the DD1, DD2, and DD3. Is there any way to include each DD under one column? I've tried a couple different things, but it seems like it only likes one attribute per column.

I know this is an old post, but I was recently reconfiguring the way our titleblock works and discovered a solution to the problem you describe ZekeZ. I ran into the same issue and didn't like the way the drawing list report looked either.
If by chance you are still wondering how to do it, let me know and I'll continue...
