Does anyone know if the plc i/o module can pull the description for the
input / output point from the device that is wired to it?
Thanks,

There's currently not a way to populate the I/O module's descriptions with
connected component descriptions all at once, but you can do it selectively.
Hit the EDIT COMPONENT toolbar button and pick on the PLC I/O module. The
EDIT PLC MODULE dialog appears. Highlight an I/O address in the upper
left-hand selection list. Then find the "pick - pick device to capture Desc
text" button in the upper middle of the dialog. Now pick on the connected
device. Its description text will be captured and applied to the description
for the currently selected I/O point in the dialog. Repeat the process for
the other I/O point addresses.
