Just an FYI about JIC symbols.

This came up in a discussion I was having with the company I have been working with.

I find that JIC1 symbols work best with 0.75" rung spacing and JIC125 symbols work best with 1.00" rung spacing. No one ever mentioned this to them. Although you can sometimes get away with using JIC125 with 0.75 spacing, it gets crowded especially if the symbols are stacked one on top of the other (like relays), not staggered.

    Just FYI...

    Hi Bob

That reads like very useful info if a customer needs to request that library of symbols.

To me it raises some questions.

Does this apply to both horozontal and/or vertical ladders?

IF I am working on mechanical items from old drawings that are imperial then I draw in imperial, all new mechanical drawings I draw in metric.

This is easy to change in AutoCAD, my question is how could this be changed in ACE?

    Cheers  jq

    John,

I guess this really only pertains to vertical ladders. Horizontal ladders require a much larger rung spacing to allow the descriptions to be descriptive. Then you could use either one (although, with jic125 you will need a larger gap).

As far as going from imperial to metric, just scaling the drawing from 1 to 25.4 will not get you a whole number value. I think that you might have to brute force redraw them...

Maybe one of the other guys has a suggestion. (I have not had this issue yet)

In ACADE 2008, there is the option to swap out one library for another. This was located in the Swap/Update function.

This may prove to be what you need to to swap from Imperial to metric. You may need to scale the entire dwg up by 25.4 to have the new library fit the dwg.
