Catalogs default in AcadE 2013

Is there 'a way' at the time of installation to point the catalog installs to a network drive and then subsequently have the users' AcadE look to the network rather than the default of c;\users\public\public documents\autodesk\acade 2013\libs"?

Or after install, how do I properly move the folders to the network and then point the users' to that folder?

Dennis,

For the libraries, all you need to do is copy the whole /lib folder to your network and then from within the project properties, redirect the schematic and panel libraries to the new location.

Thanks for the speedy reply.  It sounds like though, what you are saying, that for each project I will need to redirect.  So it will first default to the local install, then you can redirect after the fact.  Is there not a way to have the default set to the network over the local library so that when a new project is started it automatically goes to the network?  I can't seem to figure out a way to do that....

Dennis,

That is correct. All current projects will have to be updated.

Yes there is a way. I do it this way all the time.

You will need to make the same change to your "template" project that you use for creating new projects. Then all future projects based on the template will point to the new folders.

I recommend that you create a special folder that holds all your custom symbols and locate it above the folder.

It would look something like this.

The \IEC-60617 CIV\ folder is the one containing my custom symbols and standard symbols that I have modified. This way, I still keep the originals available.
