Is there a way to copy a record on the default_cat.mdb file from one family to another family?

    cheers  johnq

When you say FAMILY, do you the brand or the type of component?

If it's the brand or manufacturer, in the catalog lookup dialog, go to the original entry, click once on the entry to highlight it. Now click the ADD button. Change the manufacturer and click ok.

If you mean the type of component, you will need Microsoft Access to do it quickly and cleanly.

Make sure you know the code for the original and new locations. (IE CR used to mean Relay, PB used to mean pushbutton)

Go to the table used for the original entry and find said entry in the table.

Highlight the row of the entry you want to copy, go to the EDIT drop down and select COPY.

Now go to the table for the new entry, scroll down to the bottom and click to highligh the row with the star. Select PASTE from the edit drop down and you are done.

Just make sure to SAVE before closing Access.
