vendor catalog info, modifying connectors

I'm a new user of Autocad and Autocad Electrical 2010. When I used the 30 day trial I saw possibilities in using this product with the hundreds of drawings that I need to work/modify. It was a big sales job to get my company to fork out the funds for the product...now I'm concerned. The learning curve is steep and I keep running into obstacles. Here is my first.

First. The sample catalog information in the included database doesn't have the stuff I need. I have a few preferred vendors and would like to add their catalog info into ACADE data base. Being old and of simple mind I thought it was going to be a couple of clicks of the mouse button and a catalog data would be downloaded into the database. If this is the case I can't figure it out. So! did I try and create a feature or capability of this product that doesn't exist? If it does exist how does one implement this task?

Second, This is very specific to building a cable assembly. This cable assembly has only two mil std D38999 connectors. I inserted two connectors; added the pin numbers for the first connector without issue, add most of the pin numbers for the second, then, I hit an obstacle. This particular 41 pin connector uses alpha characters, some letters are not included, and underlined small letters are used. This product does not seem to allow underlined small letters as pin numbers. How do I do this?

Third. The connectors I'm using, for example the 41 pin connector, I only use a small number of the pins for this particular adapter cable, but can't figure out how to just display the pins of concern without the others...this would help make a smaller footprint on the drawing. How can I display partial connector with the appropriate pins?

Thanks everyone.

First off, you have to add the manufacturer data manually. There is no easy
way to add it unless you are updating from a previous version of ACADE. This
is due to the many varied and weird database programs and such out there in
the world.

As for the lowercase characters for pin numbers, I'm not sure but I believe
that ACADE automatically translates them to Uppercase.. I've had this happen
with tags for various items. I usually wait until the dwg is finished,
select all the attributes (CTRL-LEFT CLICK) in question on blocks with the
same tag and change it once in the properties.

As for the number of pins, count up how many are used in the connector, and
when it asks how many pins use that number instead of the total. You will
have to adjust the pin numbers but will end up with the smaller footprint in
the drawing as you want.
