using autocad electrical 2011 but Icon menu is using electrical 2010 database

using autocad electrical 2011 but Icon menu is using electrical 2010 database. How do I get it to look at 2011 instead

Check your project settings.  It sounds like you are opening a project that was created under version 2010.  Each project can point to any icon menu and library path.

made changes to project settings. But the newer PLC's like the 1756 are not showing up in icon menu (still).

If you added PLCs to version 2010, you should use the migration utility to merge your old PLC database into version 2011's PLC database.  The merge utility is the best tool to use when upgrading to a new version.  It can transfer Footprint Lookups, PLCs, part numbers, and more.

 

1756 PLCs have been in the software for years.  Try using the Insert PLC (parametric) method.  See attached screen shot.

The PLC categoy in the icon menu includes fixed units and individual I/O points.  But the first sub-category, PLC I/O Modules, will jump straight to the Insert PLC (parametric) menu.
