terminal block panel footpriints

Was just wondering if anyone else was seeing this? If I place a terminal block foot print and then add a balloon with the item number in the balloon, all the internal geometry disappears leaving only the outline of the footprint. A regen will bring it back, but was just wondering.....why? I am using acad2005e sp1 and maybe I should quit wondering why?? ha. Thanks

The terminal footprint blocks are created with an AutoCAD 'Wipeout' object
so that when you place these blocks over a graphical representation of the
dinrail, the portion of the dinrail under the block will be hidden. When a
item number balloon is added to the terminal footprint, it adds information
to the block to tell it the balloon is there, it seems that when this is
done, the 'Wipeout' object is getting temporarily drawing on top of the rest
of the graphics.

The regen that you are doing is the only workaround I know of right now.

I have reported this issue.

Thanks steve! Do all of the footprint blocks have this wipeout feature, and if not, shouldn't they? It would be nice to be able to keep track of the linear length of din rail used. And possibly the wipeout feature would give us that, as I know no way of doing that currently.

The wipeout feature is only on the terminal block footprints. Since the
terminals are placed on a din rail and a lot of users also show this din
rail in there panel drawings, it was determined to place this wipeout object
on these footprint. It was not placed on any other footprint since most of
these do not get placed on something that is shown in the panel drawing.

I can think of other footprint that would benefit from a wipeout object, but
currently it is only on the terminal footprints.

As for tracking the length, there is no automatic way to track this that I
know of. You can enter a 'CNT' value on the dir rail Insert/Edit dialog and
this information will be pulled into some of the reports, but there is no
automatic way to get this CNT value filled in, you would have to fill it in
yourself. I will check to see if this is on our Wishlist and if not, make
sure to add it.
