potentiometer symbol?

Hi,

I am using ACE 2006. I am using symbol library jic125. I was looking for a built-in symbol for a potentiometer and couldn't find one. Can anyone tell me if one exists?

Thanks,
Paul

Using the Icon menu, look under MISC, then TRONIC. There is a VAR RES symbol, which I guess is actually in ANSI format.

We have a symbol HPT1_L_U in our library, but I suspect we made this one up ourselves. If I ever find my memory stick I can post it....

Disclaimer: our library is based on VIA17, so perhaps there are newer items out there.

Thanks for the help. Those look like what I want...except, I'd like them to be oriented vertically, with the tap coming from the side. Do you know if there is an easy way to do this? Do I have to create a new symbol?

Thanks again,
Paul

Most AcadE schematic symbols have a "vertical" version of the symbol
included in the library folder. The difference is the first character of the
block name, "H" for horizontal and "V" for vertical.

Hi there Paul,

Draw you wire first, select the pot, drop it on top of the wire, ACE will determine the orientation of the wire and insert the symbol as either the horizontal version or the vertical version based on the wire orientation.

Thank you
