menu swapping help

I could sure use some help on this issue!!!
I have set up an additional component insert menu called my_menu.dat to compliment the provided wd_menu.dat. I have the ability to swap from one to the other. I have also copied one of the original jic libraries and renamed it. I have changed the schematic Icon menu, pointer, located under the project pulldown, to my_menu.dat. My problem is when I update a dwg in the new library using wblock, both menu's seem to point to the same dwg file. Is there a step I am missing?Do I need to edit the WD.env file? If so, what lines should I add and where?

Maybe I am not understanding the issue here, so this reponse may be bogus... but on the same dialog where you changed the icon menu name over to your new menu name (Project dialog > Symbol Libraries subdialog), there is a symbol library path edit box. Make sure that your new library path is listed in this series of semi-colon delimited paths instead of the default "jic1" or "jic125" path. I have both the jic125 and the menu I created (M1) in the search path you described. The swapping routing works fine. What I am after is the original WD_MENU file to point to the jic125 symbol library and the new MY_MENU to point to the (M1) symbol library. This is not happening. It seems as though the first library in the search path is the one pointed to. I guess I need to know which file to edit to correct that.

cotch The menu files do not point to a specific symbol library. The symbol library is defined on a project by project basis and stored in each projects wdp file, just as the menu.dat file is stored with each project. Your two symbol libraries should not contain the same blocks, so you would be fine adding both symbol library paths to the project. When you bring up the project dialog, you will select the SYMBOL LIBRARY button. From here you can add the additional path. You do not want to add multiple paths to libraries that have the same symbols, such as I would not have both the JIC1 and the JIC125 symbol library paths defined since they contain the same symbols. I hope this helps!! -- ---- Regards, Jared Bunch Autodesk, Inc. -------------------------------------------------------- "cotch" wrote in message news:1082731.1095857908375.JavaMail.jive@jiveforum2.autodesk.com... > I have both the jic125 and the menu I created (M1) in the search path you described. It does help, and it makes perfect sense. Thanks for the help.
