export/update from spreadsheet

Hi all,
i have a couple ? about this function.
i exported my drw to the xls and deleted all the linkterm codes for the terminals but it didn't update the drw once i loaded the xls back into the drw.

2nd question: we are working with the installation/ location function in acad. can i use the export/update from spreadsheet function to change the installation of components? will it also update the child symbols once i uploade the xls back into the drw?

3rd question:
can i switch components catalog number with this function?
i changed some CB's on the xls but it didn't change the drw. did i do something wrong?

thanks

1) I think maybe the linkterm is a known issue but I will check it. Can I
ask why you are removing all of them? They provide the link between
multi-level schematic terminal representations and also between the
schematic and panel representations.

2) the export/import does not automatically update children if a parent is
modified in the spreadsheet. You would need to make the same changes for the
children in the spreadsheet

3) you should be able to switch the catalog value. If it didn't change then
something didn't happen as expected. What version of AcadE are you using?
Can you post a drawing along with the steps you took?

Hi Pat
thanks for taking your time.
one of my co workers copied pages and answerd NO when acad askes if you want create new link numbers, also if you copy to a existing blank page acad doesn't ask.

the terminal strip editor doesnt like it (see pdf).
each line in terminal "2" should have their own terminal.
we suspect this happend because of the linkterm....

Yes, I think the linkterm is probably the reason. You might try removing the
drawings from the project and then adding them back in and saying yes to
update the linkterm values. If that doesn't work let me know. I think I
remember a blog posting that had a lisp function that manipulated linkterm
values for something. Maybe it can be quickly changed to clear out linkterm
values.

we have 6 projects with pages ranging from 80 -160 pages and the terminals are all over. do i have to remove and add each page separately?

Hmmm. Do you know which pages were copied and added? If you do then you
should be able to remove and add them as a group. As long as the original
drawings are part of the project then you should get the prompt. I am
hesitant to run a function (I could write) that would clear all linkterms
unless you are sure that no multi-level terminal are defined or panel strips
inserted by terminal strip editor. If you have these, then removing the
linkterm will break the relationshipts for those items..

I went through one project yesterday, page by page and deleted the links manually. it took about 2 hours for about 1000 terminals. we don't have multi-level terminals and haven't inserted any terminals with the strip editor yet.

LINKTERM values are updated from spreadsheet if block has no LINKTERM attribute.

In this case VIA_WD_LINKTERM xdata is used.
