child cross reference blanks out

I'm having an issue where I have a XREF field on a child device that looks to update when i select the parent, but after clicking OK, the XREF field is blanked out for some reason. If i go back into edit component a second time, the XREF will 'stick' and not be blank when i click OK. The other fields (TAG, LOC, etc) aren't blanked out like this, only the XREF attribute. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Are TAG, INST or LOC strings too long.

I had similar problems because INST value was too long.

I don't remember exactly, but I think it should be less than 16 characters.

Vladop has offered you some good advice. I would recommend using abbreviations for Installation and Location codes. These come from the DIN and now IEC standard and ate usually kept to 2-3 letters maximum.

If this is an isolated incident I also recommend deleting the project scratch database. Shut down the software, go to the User sub folder where scratch databases are saved, and delete. This builds a fresh new project scratch database and often clears up oddities.

The TAG is 7 characters, the LOC is 5, and the INST is empty.

Just curious. Does it update okay using the update cross references utility?
