Wrong line reference generated & put into wire numbers & component tags

I have a page - line number reference problem. The 1.25" spacing down the left side of the sheet looks good and is generated by the ladder sequencing. 16 lines on the left side, and 16 lines on the right side.

When I put a component halfway between say 14-18 and 14-19, the reference for the wire number and/or the component should come out as 14181, for the 14-18 location. Instead, it comes out with 14191.

I can't get the line references being generated by cross referencing or by re-tagging to line up exactly, or even near the boundary lines. I have to get up pretty near the reference line before it takes on the right number.

The location of my devices and wire numbers should not be dictated by the wrong numbers being generated. The right numbers should be put on automatically.

I have been getting a poor response from our local AutoCAD people, so I hope I get a good response here. This has been dogging me for two days now.

Thanks,
Dale

Dale, can you send the drawing to me directly so I can take a look at the
settings, etc. It is hard to know what might be going on without seeing the
drawing confiuration.

You can send it to me at pat.murnen@autodesk.com

Pat, emailed a couple of sample files so you can see what I am talking about. Thanks for the quick response.

Dale,

Pat asked me to look at your sample files. Here is the component tag
issue... AutoCAD Electrical looks at the origin of your block insert and
then finds the nearest line reference number to that origin point. It is not
tied to the location of the TAG1 attribute on the symbol, it is tied to the
origin of the symbol itself.

Some of your solenoid symbols are falling on or just below the the break
point between two line reference numbers. So, while the visible TAG1
attribute on the symbol is floating higher and appears closer to the upper
line reference zone, the tagging is calculated based upon the symbol's
origin point, which is below the TAG1 attribute. It falls closer to the
lower (greater) line reference so it's getting that reference number
formatted into the tag-ID.

This same concept applies to line referece-based wire numbers.

How to resolve? Well, you could try this:

1. Type ATTMODE [Enter] at command line and temporarily set the value to
"2".
2. Type REGEN [Enter]
3. Look at the upper-mose line reference numbers in each column. Note that
you'll see a number of tiny attribute text entities floating below the
visible line reference number. This is part of the master line reference
block insert for this column.
4. Use AutoCAD MOVE command and slide this block down just a bit, maybe 0.15
inches or so.
5. Use grips or AcadE's attribute move command to move the visible line
reference attribute back up to its original position.
6. Type ATTMODE [Enter] and flip the value back to "1" so invisible
attributes are now hidden again.
7. QSAVE your drawing. Open some other drawing and then come back to this
one (this forces AcadE to "reread" your master line reference block
inserts).

So, what have you done here? You've moved the origin of the column's line
reference number down just a bit but you kept the visible line reference
number at its original position. When AcadE calculates a tag for a device,
it will now be a tiny bit "closer" to the master line reference block
insert's origin... so the line reference number it calculates will more
likely to be the "upper" one since you are leaving the line ref text
unmoved.

If you want to make this a permanent change that comes in automatically for
all new drawings you create, modify the actual line reference library
symbol. The symbol you're using is called wd_mlrh.dwg and it is in your
selected symbol library folder (ex: c:\program files\autodesk\acade
2006\libs\jic125).

If this doesn't make sense or doesn't work, let me know.

thanks,
Nate.

I tried to revise library symbol wd_mlrh.dwg as you indicated under items 4 and 5. I could not get the change to work when I inserted a ladder. I'm very new at AutoCAD electrical so I must be doing something wrong. Can you help me out?

Hi Mark,
Can you attach your sample drawing and anything else that is needed to
duplicate the problem?
thanks,
Nate.

I am trying to keep my line number the same as close as possible to the next line number down. It changes about half-way between the lines.
When I do attmode and inter a 2, to check my block name it comes in as WD_MLRH7 not the wd_mlrh as you indicated.
I need to move the line ref change down about .6116. When I do this manualy on the sheet it works fine. I would like this to come in automaticly.

I have attached one of my drawings to show you
