Wire Signal cross reference (Arrow template)

Hi,

I am having a problem when I try to put a signal Source or Destination Arrow on a wire. When trying to insert an Arrow I get the message "File not found: HA5S1" when using style 5 but gives the same error with all the other styles with the corresponding error codes.

The Arrow referencing was working but for some reason the next day after a computer restart I am not presented with this problem.

If anyone knows anything that could help it would be much appreciated,

Thanks

Hi Ryan,

Likely the Project is not pointing to the right Location in the Project Properties.

Double check that you are pointing to the release Specific Libraries.

Example (2015 NFPA Library):

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Acade 2015\Libs\NFPA

If the Path is correct then it could be a Read / Write issue with the folder.

I hope this helps,

James

Hi James,

Thank you for the response.

I have double check and the paths seem to be correctly set in the project settings.

I went to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Acade 2014\Libs   and performed a search and could not find any of the Source/Destination Arrorw templates (example HA6S1 for right side arrow stlye 6).

I have also performed a search on my C drive and found nothing.

Would you happen to know where autocad will save the template for arrow styles 6-9 after the installation?(ex:HA6S1.dwg)

I have attached a picture of the error message.

Would you happen to know if these arrow template could be downloaded or found somewhere on the autodesk website?

Thanks for the help,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Signal Arrows sytles 5 through 9  do not exist (they are for the user to create their Own).

Most of the time people simply copy the existing ones.

I think there are 12 "HA" Blocks that are required for each style to work properly.

So until you create the "HA6S1" block it can never find it. ( all of the Symbols are stored in the Library).

What sort of style were you looking for?

Regards,

James

Thank you James

I understand now that the styles 5-9 are user created.

I was looking for a simple arrow with a few text boxes to indicate where the signal is heading.

Would you happen to know if there is a forum page where users share templates?

Thank you

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

If you don't need them to update you could use the "Reference only Arrows".

(Schematic > Insert Wire/Wire number > Source Arrow Dropdown > Reference only Arrows )

Its in the same drop down as the Source Destination Arrows.

Speaking of which, If you need them to Update, Source / Destination Arrows would probably be the right choice.

You can find these in the Insert wire/wire number Panel.

(Schematic > Insert Wire/Wire number > Source Arrow Dropdown > Source Arrow)

(Schematic > Insert Wire/Wire number > Source Arrow Dropdown > Destination Arrow)

I hope this helps,

James

One other thought,

There are standalone "Source / Destination" Symbols that could also help.

In the Icon menu Go to miscellaneous > Stand-alone Cross-reference Symbols (Its in NFPA, and JIC, Not sure about IEC)

I hope this helps,

Thank you James,

These ideas are great and have given me a few different options.

I think I will try coping an existing template and modify it to my liking.

Thank you again,

Best regards,

Ryan
