Wire Annotation of Panel Footprint Ignores connec. b/w 2 contacts on same b

When I click define new wire sequence, the connection shows (the problem connections are between X8TERM02 to X2TERM07, X8TERM04 to X2TERM09, and X8TERM04 to X2TERM11 in the same block).

However when I run the Wire Annotation to Panel Footprint, the connection only shows on one of the two terminals and it shows as 106=(??) 10 AWG (the correct wire gauge but it cannot find the destination terminal).

I've tried this on multiple bocks, all resulting in the same problem. This used to work in older versions of ACE but not with 2008. I have installed the service pack, and the only solution I can think of is to either create 2 separate child blocks (these are X & Y windings on an SEL 501 relay) or to type the connections in by hand.

Please help me out! This is still an issue.

This is because the terminal numbers on the schematic component and the panel footprint don't match.

Probably because it can't find terminal 106 on the panel footprint. One of the TERMxx attributes on the footprint should contain the number 106 to represent terminal 106 on the schematic. The wire number details are normally then put into the matching WIRENOxx attribute on the footprint terminal.

Highlight the footprint and edit the TERMxx attribute in properties. You may have to add another terminal to your footprint.

The (??) occurs because the wire on the schematic is not numbered (I think!).

The terminals have always been converted to MTEXT so that isn't the issue. Thanks for the thought. Any other ideas?

I know there is an issue with the wire from/to database. This affects the
TSE and could also be affecting your footprint layouts.
I'm still waiting for Autodesk to come back to my reseller with a solution
or hotfix.

Can you send me a project with the schematic drawings with the wires
sequenced and the drawing with the panel symbols that you are annotating? My
direct email is pat.murnen@autodesk.com. I might be able to tell what is
happening if I see the drawings.

Thanks,
Pat Murnen

I am posting the email I sent to Pat here, in case the email doesn't make it out of our servers.

I put the parent child and footprint all in the same drawing to replicate my problem (my company won't let me send active project files as the designs are confidential).

I feel that it may be a database issue. Like I said in the thread(http://discussion.autodesk.com/thread.jspa?forumID=38&threadID=619284), when I click on the wire to define wire sequence (verifying that there is a valid connection) it will show both terminals and full device nomenclature. However, upon running Wire Annotation to Panel Footprint it will output only one terminal with ?? after it.

Annotation works for terminals from the same direction (IE X1TERM02 to X1TERM06 to X1TERM10 or (TS1):2 to (TS1):6 to (TS1):10).

Annotation fails for terminals from opposite directions (IE on (PR1) X8TERM02 to X2TERM07, X8TERM04 to X2TERM09, and X8TERM04 to X2TERM11 or (PR1):102 to (PR1):107, (PR1):104 to (PR1):109, and (PR1):106 to (PR1):111.) Similarly the terminals on (TS1) have the same problem only it is a X1TERM## to X4TERM##.

I haven't had this problem until AutoCAD 2008 as I have used that 2 current winding block in many previous projects. I appreciate you taking a look at this. Hoover looks great, I can't wait to dive into it, I've been really busy as of late.

It looks like there is an issue with the project database when you have a
wire with only one segment that goes from one connection on a symbol to
another connection on the same symbol. I have logged this issue. I think if
you split the segment into 2 pieces the annotation will appear correctly.
Again, this seems to be only when wiring between connections on the same
symbol.

Sorry for any inconvenience,
Pat Murnen
