Using User Post to sort BOM

Hi,

I am looking to use the "User Post" function to sort my BOM by Location, User1, MFG, Catalog. I have never written lisp before. Can someone get me started?

Any chance of getting this functionality added to a later version?

Thanks,

Joshua

Joshua,

What BOM are you running, Panel or Schematic? Also, what display option,
Normal, Purchase Tallied, Grouped by Location/Installation, or By Tag? The
user post is different for each of these as they have different available
fields. Also, on some of these display options sorting by LOC can be tricky
because certain components with the same catalog and therefore grouped
together in one entry, may have different LOC values.

Pat,

I amusing the Panel BOM and the normal tallied format (group by installation/location). The data displayed and sort order are what matters. Having multiple instances of the same item on the BOM due to separate locations is fine. We are not using the installation field.

We would like to purchase items off of the BOM over time based on what location is assigned to them and the priority we set for that location.

Thanks,
Joshua

Let me see if I can get something started. So you want to sort by Location,
User1, MFG, Catalog. So using this option, grouped by installation/location,
the first level is taken care of, right?

I also will log a wish item to add more fields to the available sorting. It
looks like for you, if User1 was added you would have what you wanted.

Joshua, I have something that I would like you to try. I don't really have a
good data set to know for sure if what I have is right. I would rather send
it to you directly and post the final version once we know it works. My
direct email is pat.murnen@autodesk.com. Can you send me an email and I can
send the files to you to try? Or if you can send me a project and drawings I
could try this.
