Unhandled Exception error when starting TSE

When starting the Terminal Strip Editor - after a lot of activity (hourglass symbol and text in the command line) I get a Unhandled Exception. See the attachment.

The command line finishes with:-

reading project database file...
Data written out to project database tables "WFRM2ALL" and WNETLIST"

This happens at least 50% of the times I launch TSE.

The only to get out is to "End task" in Task Manager.

Does anyone get this, or is it just me?

No reply from AutoCAD - no surprise.

Well, after much grief, I can confirm that this is caused by some problem with a schematic terminal.

Does not show on Edit - Component so presume it must be an Xdata problem. Only way to fix is to delete and re-insert each schematic terminal in turn until it is fixed.

Of course ACADE gives no hint on where the problem might be - it just crashes!

I know enough about software development to know that good code handles all exceptions.

This code obviously does not.

New customers: Think twice about about getting on this time-wasting roundabout.

John,

I apologize that no one responded to your post. I can look at your drawings
if you still need someone to. Can you tell me what version of AcadE you are
using? Also, what are the steps you are doing when this occurs? One thing
you might try first before deleting any terminals is to delete the project's
database while not running AcadE. Then next time AcadE is started the
database is recreated. The database is stored in the user folder and has the
same name as the project's .wdp file.

My direct email is pat.murnen@autodesk.com if you want to send the drawings
and the inforamtion directly to me.

I'm running 2010.

I always delete the project database after exiting ACADE.

The project currently runs to 40 drawings so not easy to send.

The thing that gave me a clue was that I had a terminal strip with 4 triple deck terminals in it. I used TSE to insert these on the wiring diagram. Later, when I came back to the WD, one of the terminals was missing!

I found out that the action of inserting another terminal strip (which has its terminals is on a different schematic), on a different wiring diagram was affecting the first one. Even though the components and footprints were all on (4) different drawings.

Therefore, in some way these two terminal strips were linked even though there was nothing in the edit dialog to suggest why this was so. I eventually cured this particular problem by deleting the schematic components and re-inserting them.

I did not see any logged issues regarding the error message you received. If
you get it again and it can be reproduced maybe email me directly and I can
find a spot to upload the project so it can be looked at. Or if you can
narrow down which drawings and send just a small smaple project to my direct
email, pat.murnen@autodesk.com, I can look at it.

Terminals are related by an invisible LINKTERM value. If you copy and paste
terminals using AutoCAD commands (not specifically AutoCAD Electrical) this
value won't get updated and may cause terminals to appear related even if
they are not. Or if you copy drawings and don't update the LINKTERM when
adding them to the project the same thing can happen. Without knowing your
exact steps it is hard to know what happened but these are a copuple things
to watch out for with terminals.

Sorry for this inconvenience,

I am having a very similar problem when trying to start the terminal strip editor. There is a dialog box asking for saving the drawing, and a message appears that:  Data written out to project database tables "WFRM2ALL" and WNETLIST"

I am using ACADe 2011 with all updates

I did import drawings into the project---added using Project Manager.

Pat, how can I update the LINKTERM variable that you spoke of?

I believe this problem has been resolved in ACE2011 Update1, you can patch it from: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=15695800&linkID=9240738 and try it again.

I have already installed this update--several months ago--I have not tried to use the editor for a while.

The TS editor was working previously, but I cannot tell when exactly it stopped.

I have submitted a tech support request.
