Trouble opening multiple drawings, or saving a drawing

I have been using Autocad 2009 for a while with no problems. I got a virus and had to wipe the hard drive, and reinstall windows XP, all my software and backups.

After I reinstalled Autocad, I couldnt open more than one drawing at a time. I changed SDI mode to 1 and could do it, but then it wouldnt let me save the file.

I installed Autocad 2009 service pak 3 and no change.

What can I do ?

This wasnt happening before.

Should I unload autocad and reinstall it again hoping it will fix itself?

Can you be more specific about "it wouldn't let me save the file". Waht happened when you tried to save? You are correct that the SDI system variable controls whether you can open more than 1 drawing at a time. But, it doesn't affect whether you can save a file or not.
