Terminal Plan user post

We have our terminal strip broken down into logical groups. We installation and location to keep track of location, we wanted also to keep track of the number of a terminal strips in a box, ie. the main panel might have 3 terminal strips for voltage separation. We also wanted to keep track of the potential voltages for each group of block, ie. 5vdc, 10vdc, 24vdc, 110vac, 220vac, 240vac, 480vac. So we used tagstrip in the form of (StipNo_StripGroup,ie. 1_17; reads Strip 1,_group 17). We really wanted to add more attributes but didn't like the fact that when we edited the block we had to go to show/edit to get to the attributes and we wanted them to be sort-able in the reports. We use the wire number as the terminal number, so we use WireNo. So is there a method to use a post process on the Terminal Plan report to search the Tag-ID field for the "_" and assign each half to a variable? Where does the data reside before it goes to the post process? In VBA I would search the variable for the string value "_" and the take the Left(position) and assign it to one variable and then the (mid(position),(len) and assign it to the other variable. How would you accomplish this in lisp? Or if there is a way do you have a VBA example?

Thanks
