Table problem

After running a BOM report, I would like to be able to merge the description columns into one column, as it looks much better just to have one column with the whole description in it than having 3 separate columns, but using 'merge' deletes the data in the other columns.
Is it possible to do this.

Pete, can you be more specific about which fields you want in one column and
what version of AcadE you are using? AcadE supports putting a number of
fields in one Description column by going in to the Change Report Format
dialog. If the fields you want are not listed there the only way I can think
of is by using a custom User Post. Let me know if the fields are not listed
and you want to try a User Post. I probably can write a first pass if you
aren't familar with using Lisp and modifying the Usr Post file supplied.

Interesting Pat, but is this also possible with the Drawing List Report? There this option is unavailable. What i want to do is to put 2 of my drawing titles attributes in the same cell on my dwg.

Thanks,
Peter

Peter, the drawing list doesn't support this the same way as the BOM report.
You could do it with a User Post. I am trying to think if there might be a
way to do this using the Title Block setup file. Let me put some thought
into this and if I come up with anything I will post a reply.

If you want to try a User Post let me know if you need any help. I can give
you an example but for this report many of the fields and the order depend
on the specific title block and setup used, so you would need to modify it
for your use.

Pat
Thanks for the reply.
In actual fact, I was wrong, I usually use the 'Component' report, not 'BOM', but could still probably achieve what I need with a BOM report, since the 2 are similar-ish.
Anyway, I would like to have Desc1 and Desc2 in the same column (say, under a column heading of 'Description') - in AcadE08.
I've not used a User Post, but am familiar with ALisp, or at least was, up until a few years ago!
Where would I find the supplied User Post file?

There should be a skeleton user post .lsp/dcl supplied for each report. In a
default installation they would be in the c:\program files\autodesk\acade
2008\support. For the Component report it is comp.lsp with a corresponding
comp.dcl. I believe the Bill of Materials report has some actual options
programmed already so there might be a good example in bom.lsp.

The basic idea is to plug in whatever information you want and then it
passes the updated information back to the report dialog. If you are trying
to combine 2 pieces of information into one field but want it to wrap within
the cell, I believe you would separate the 2 strings with a \\P.

Let me know if I can help in any way,
