Suppress automatic wire number leader

Hi,
I am using ACE2009. When I insert wire numbers, they are almost always drawn without a leader. If there are drawing objects near the location where I am inserting my wire number, ACE automatically creates a leader for my wire number. This makes sense because it prevents your wire numbers from overlapping other drawing objects.

Sometimes, however, ACE inserts a leader seemingly for no reason, even if there is plenty of room to fit my wire number without a leader. Is there any way I can suppress this from time to time and force a particular wire number to be drawn without a leader?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Have you tried the "Collapse" option of the leader command.

Start the Leader command. At the command prompt, enter C, and press ENTER. Then select the wire number with the leader you want to collapse.

Hope this helps!
