Alternate solution is to modify the source version of the resistor symbol.
Let's say the symbol name is "HRE1". Open the hre1.dwg file (browse to the
active library folder) and adjust as you see fit. Save and exit. Now, when
you insert the symbol into a fresh drawing, it will reflect the changes you
made to the actual symbol itself. If you want to update existing dwgs with
this new version of the symbol, use the Block Swap utility and pick the
"Option B" update block function.

Hi,
I inserted a variable resistor symbol oriented vertically. From the top
terminal to the bottom terminal, the distance measured 0.4981. I want to
connect to this variable resistor from the side. I have my snap set at 0.25
and all of my rungs are spaced at even multiples of 0.25. For this reason,
it would be easier for me if my variable resistor measured 0.5000 from top
to bottom. I thought I would be able to do this using the 'stretch block'
function. I tried to do this, but I couldn't figure it out. The online
help on this function was not very useful. If anyone could tell me if what
I am trying to do is possible, and if so, how to do it, I would appreciate
it.
Thanks,
Paul
