Shared Library instal doesn't work

I am installing a network version of AutoCAD Electrical 2004 for the first time from a network. I have selected that the symbols libraries and support files be located on a shared network location. When I install, no support files or libraries are installed to my shared network folder. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?

John When you walk through creating the image to install that clients from is when these files should be getting placed in the share location you have specified. Please make sure that you have the appropriate rights when creating this image for these files to be place. Then, when you install from the image you create on the client machines (you do not use the CD to install), they should be already setup to look to the location you specified as the share when you created the install images. Things to take an initial look at: 1) Where are you trying to create this install image from and where are you attempting to place it? (Are you sitting at the server and telling it to place the new install image on this server, or are you sitting at a workstation telling it to create this image on the server?) 2) Check what rights you have to make sure that when you are creating this image you have the ability to place the shared files in the location you are specifying 3) Walk through creating the image again, document or take a screen shot of each screen and selection that you make. Then immediately check to see if the directories/files are placed in the location you are specifying. These are some initial steps I would take and things to take a look at. I hope this helps!! -- Regards, Jared Bunch Technical Support Specialist Autodesk, Inc "johnweiss" wrote in message news:18030005.1084551677311.JavaMail.jive@jiveforum2.autodesk.com... > I am installing a network version of AutoCAD Electrical 2004 for the first time from a network. I am creating the image at the server. The support folders AeData and Libs are created on the network folder, but when I perform the installation from the image it does not populate these support folders at all.....they are empty. I created the image again and I got the same results. My network admin tells me that all the access right are correct, so I am not sure what to do at this point except install the support files and libs on my hard drive at install and them move them manually to the network and remap my path in AutoCAD.

Should the support file appear in the shared network folder after the image is created or after the first user installation using the install image?

John I have ran through this several times and it does not fail. The files that you selected to share should get placed when the image is created. What items are you selecting to share, Symbols, Catalog, or both?? Also, what is the exact path you are entering?? Screenshots and or recordings of the process would be very helpful.....also, during the process you have options for it to create logs. I would strongly suggest turning this option on when you run the setup, especially if you decide to turn this issue into support. -- Regards, Jared Bunch Technical Support Specialist Autodesk, Inc "johnweiss" wrote in message news:11950264.1084557654397.JavaMail.jive@jiveforum2.autodesk.com... > Should the support file appear in the shared network folder after the image is created or after the first user installation using the install image?

Do you happen to be installing to a DFS (Distributed File System) share? Are you using a UNC (i.e., \\servername\sharename) or using a drive letter? Here is a installation summary attachment for you to review. I just re-created the image and it still did not populate the AeData and Libs folder in the shared network folder

Here is a screen capture of the library path and shared library selection dialog box. I checked and I as an admin have write access to this folder. If I did not have the correct rights, it would not have even created the folders. Are you sure that these folders are populated when the image is created, or at the first client installation.
