Report generation problem 2006

I am having a problem with the report generation in AutoCAD Electrical 2006.
If I select "Automatic Report Generation" I get this error on the command line.
Error malformed string on input
I get the same message when I select the format button in Report Format File Setup dialog.
In the panel report or schematic report if I select the format button AutoCAD locks up.
It was working ok at one time with no service pack and with SP2.
I am running with Windows 2000 SP4
Along with AutoCAD Electrical 2006 I have 2004 & 2005 and Inventor Series 9 installed on this machine.
Only 2006 was running when errors occur.
Can anyone help?

Do you have SP 1 loaded for ACAD E 2006? There was an issue with the project not writing to the scratch database and therefore, the report tool not working.

I had 0, SP1, SP2 at different times and it was working. Something happen just recently.

uninstalled and deleted AE 2006 folders and reinstalled
