Project Manager - copying project

Hi,

Not sure if anyone has the same workflow as us.

I have a master project which contains all OPTIONS and VARIANTS, and I need to copy the master project to a contract specific project.  Currently, I use the "copy project" command and when get to the selection of drawing I just unselect the ones which do not apply to this contract project.

It is very time consuming as there are over 300 drawings in our master project and sometime I have to unselect nearly 100 drawings when copying to a contract specific project.  Quite often the incorrect drawings are selected due to human errors.

Does anyone have better way of doing this?

Any help would be great!  Smiley Happy

If the question is how to unselect the drawings...

Close project in ACE. Find project file (for example projectname.wdp), make a copy and rename original (backup.wdp). Then open projectname.wdp (it's a copy!) like text file. You can find some lines in the very end of this text. Smth like that:

===FIRST
=====SUB=FIRST
58_first15EZ.dwg
=====SUB=FIRST
ПЭ_по_15EZ.dwg
===FIRST
=====SUB=FIRST
58_first17EZ.dwg

Delete drawings you don't need to copy then open this project in ACE. Now it includs only drawings you want to see. After copying just replace project file to backup.

Maybe there is an easier way. But you could try.

Hi Nata_ly,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I have tried deleting drawings by opening the .wdp file as well.  I'm just looking for more automatic tool/way to delete the unwanted drawings in from contract specific project to avoid human errors and save time of course.

I have thought about lisp routine or script file, are you familiar with these at all?

Thanks again Smiley Very Happy
