Panel Footprint Loosing Component Link

The problem I am having is a panel foot print will loose its link to the schematic component.

Say I insert a coil somewhere in the schematic. I then switch drawings over the my panel layout, hit EDIT, select my custom footprint, then find the coils tag name from the schematic list. This will show the coil tag name in the footprint block. But when I move the coil and update the the tag I am told from autocad that doing a batch update will break the connection between my footprint and coil.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a way to keep a connection between footprint and component even after it is moved. I figured that was the purpose of finding the component in the schematic list.
