Could someone please show me how to create multiple viewports in AutoCAD Electrical 2009 so that one sees different objects instead of creating multiple views in order to view the same object.

You already have the multiple viewports from you query.
What you need to do is to double click in the additional viewports to activate them, then adjust the view using the zoom and pan controls. Once it is to your liking, double click outside the the viewport to come back to the paperspace. Now select the viewport by clicking once on the boundry and then go to the properties. in the bottom group, there should be a choice to lock the viewport. change this to yes and even if you double click in the viewport, you can"t change the view settings in it.
