Hi,

Just to elaborate to make my question clearer,

in short whenever i try to lookup for catalog using the marker symbol, my autocad crashes and cant function.

However for other symbols it worked perfectly fine.

So did I configure my library wrongly? or any other reasons?

Suspected it cant locate the W0 in my default_cat.mdb

Pls help.

Do you have microsoft access installed? Can you try to run a compact/repair on the database?

Also, AcadE looks into the _W0_CBLWIRES table when opening the cables marker table.

Have you done any manual editing on the W0 or _W0_CBLWIRES table? Changed the order of the columns or something like that?

Hi Wan,

Just as a test try copying your libraries local (I see it's on the X: drive).

It could just be Network Traffic preventing it from working.

One other thing, double check that the symbol name is with a "0" (zero) not an "O".

After you check if a local copy is working (or not working), Let us know.

You could also try to run the AECHECKCATALOG command, to see if that tool can find any errors in your database.

Just a thought.

If you make a backup of your mdb-file, and delete all recorde in the W0 table. Does it work then?

And if you delete the W0 table (and the _W0_CBLWIRES table)?

Do AcadE say that W0 table doesn't exist, and offers to create it for you?

If you now let AcadE create it for you, does it work then?

Your replies to questions 3 & 4 indicate the reason the catalog look up is failing.

You have changed the column names and re-arranged them within the look up table.

ACADE requires the tables to have specific names and locations for their data columns. By changing these, you have made the lookup unable to work when looking at the particular table in question.

You will need to remove the table in question and allow ACADE to recreate it, then fill in the required data within the table WITHOUT modifying the table layout or column names.

ans : I've deleted the files, but no autocad doesnt say W0 table does not exist and does not offer to re-create it for me.

whenever i try to look up. It just crashes on me again. 😞

Any other idea? i am stuck already.

Hi Wan,

Try installing a trial of the program on a second computer.

Then move the working copy of the database to your machine and see of that works.

Make sure you back up your original files (all of the mdb's) if you have customized them.

If a brand new database is working then like the others have suggested its the database that's dead.

(Probably from moving columns around).

If its not working with the newer database then its likely a user profile issue.

(Some user file folder is locked, maybe from an IT policy).

if the new database works then rearrange the table in the non- working one to match the working one.

Let us know after that,

James

Are you absolutely sure you're working on the correct MDB-file?

Right-click the project and select Settings...

Is the setting Active catalog lookup pointing at the same file as you're editing?
