Hide rating and description attributes on footprints when inserted

Is there a setting to hide rating and description attributes on panel footprints?  I know how to hide them after they have been inserted but I would prefer that they not show up when inserted.

Modify inserted block WD_PTAG
Located in panel subdirectory of Libs.

Do a block edit and change the visible flag to yes (you will need to enable properties box ).
Changing status here will be permanent change for any future insertions

Turn the PRTG & PDESC layers off. This will hide the layers on the dwg but leave them available to see with a few clicks.

The footprint blocks that ship with AutoCAD Electrical do not include the AutoCAD Electrical attributes, with the exception of terminal footprints. The required attributes get pushed in from a group of blocks at the root of the panel folder, as the previous post mentioned, when you insert "dumb" footprint blocks. Some data, that would normally be invisible anyway, such as MFG and CAT data, is pushed in as extended entity data (aka xdata).

You can use the Symbol Builder to add the necessary attributes so the software doesn't have to resort to pushing the data in. This allows you to position the attributes where you wish and set their visibility state. The P_TAG1 attribute carries the tag so in your case you could set this to invisible. Setting it to invisible in the WD_PTAG.DWG block will prevent the tag from being visible on any block that is inserted without preloaded AutoCAD Electrical compliant attributes.

Attribute Template Drawings

You can set up to have visible attributes added to any footprint automatically at footprint insertion time. Using non-intelligent footprint representations can insert with smart AutoCAD Electrical attributes added automatically, on the fly.

There are five attribute template drawings:
•wd_ptag_addattr_comp.dwg. component footprints
•wd_ptag_addattr_trm.dwg. terminal footprints
•wd_ptag_addattr_wtrm.dwg. terminal with wire no. as terminal number
•wd_ptag_addattr_itemballoon.dwg. balloons
•wd_ptag_addattr_pnltermstrip.dwg. terminal footprints (when inserted by Level/Sequencing tools)

What I've done to solve this is to hide the RATING and DESC attributes in the original block dwg file.

AutoCAD Electrical Steps:

1. Open the symbol DWG file.

2. In the "Schematic" Ribbon, Under "Edit Components", expand the drop-down arrow next to the Attribute Edit commands

3. Select  "Hide Attribute (Single Pick)

4. Click the attributes in the symbol file that you want to make invisible (you'll see a visibility change confirmation above the command line)

5. Save and Close.

Alternate Process:

1. Open the symbol DWG file.

2. Select the attributes in the symbol file that you want to make invisible.

3. Open "Properties" tab (type Properties)

4. Under "Misc", select the "yes/no" drop-down next to "Invisible" and select "Yes"

5. Save and Close.

Hope this helps.  Please mark as "Solution" if this solves your particular issue.  Good Luck!
