Fuse Terminals

Is there a way to have the rating1 attribute field on a terminal linked to
the panel symbol?

I've created a "fuse" terminal block symbol that includes a rating 1 field.
When inserting this symbol on the schematic, the rating field is active for
input. I use this to show the rating of the fuse, and use the multiple
catalog and add the fuse cartridge to the bom.

Now in my panel layout drawing, I use the insert terminal (from schematic
list) and everything is fine except the rating field on my panel terminals
they are blank and require manual input. Now here's the funny thing, if I
create my fuse terminal block as a component and insert footprint (schematic
list) the rating field is displayed with the value from the schematic. This
doesn't really help me since I lose the left right wiring data descriptions
(still working on the internal/external code stuff and multi level
terminals...). Also, if you use one of the included library panel terminal
symbols and insert it onto your panel layout (ex: Weidmuller #WSI6LD) you
can enter the rating for the fuse terminal but the data field is added
during the insert (the panel symbol itself as created doesn't have a rating
field). Why?

Does anyone half a solution/workaround for these types of "terminals" or it
considered a hybrid component/terminal and there are advantages to either
representation but not together?

Thanks,
Omar

Use your special symbol where you get the rating on to the foot print and
then run the "Schematic Wire Connections -> Foot print" this can be found
under the Panel menu. This will annotate the foot print with wire
connections.

Hope this helps.

Hi Giri,

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure that this function does what I intended. It's not the wiring
connection data that I want to display, it's the Rating1 field. When you
enter data on the schematic symbol for ex: Term1, that same data is
displayed when you use the "insert terminals from schematic" function.
However, if you have created a schematic terminal symbol with an attribute
field called Rating1 and the "linked" panel symbol was created with the same
Rating1 field, this data doesn't transfer when the symbols are inserted into
the panel drawing. Apparently, this link is maintained if the terminal was
created as a component. But by using the component method to create the
symbol, I do lose the wire connection data you mentioned in your reply.
Unless I'm missing something in he symbol creation or data lookup table, I
think I'm left to manually entering the fuse rating for each of my fuse
terminals on the panel layout.

Omar

I am having the same problem. I have designed a custom schematic component that resembles a fuse but has a terminal number associated with it. It does have a "rating1" attribute, which I am prompted for when I insert this component in a schematic.

But just like you - once I get to the terminal strip editor all I get is the terminal number and the connecting wire numbers - NO rating.

If you find a solution please post back here as I would love to find a solution. I will continue playing with it and do the same.
