Excel xlt location

Hello there,

Would like to know if there is a way to set the path of the wd_xls_all_template.xlt to a location other than C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Acade 2012\Support.

Have tried adding to the seach path as well as editing the wd.env file, but have had no success.

A network location for the template would be ideal.

AutoCAD Electrical 2012.

Thanks.

What if you delete the local version of this xlt-file. Will AcadE find the one on the network then?

Also, have a look at WD_SUP_ALT in the wd.env file.

Thanks, rhesusminus.

Have tried deleting the local file, even going as far as replacing it with an identically named shortcut to the network copy. Have also activated that line in the wd.env file, changing it to WD_SUP_ALT,Y:/_Drafting_Dev/Apps/AutoDesk/AutoCAD/Templates/

Consistently get an error message that it can't find the template.

Okay I figured it out. You have to link the file to the right spot, (under C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2022\Acade\Support\en-US) using mklink in the cmd prompt.

additionally you can put this text into a .bat file and run it as administrator.

------------------------------------------------

cd C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2022\Acade\Support\en-US\
del WD_XLS_ALL_TEMPLATE.XLT
mklink WD_XLS_ALL_TEMPLATE.XLT "Target File path including  \WD_XLS_ALL_TEMPLATE.XLT"

To get the correct path structure you can put the WD_XLS_ALL_TEMPLAT.XLT where you want it to go, then shift right click on it, then "copy as path". paste that into "Target File path including  \WD_XLS_ALL_TEMPLATE.XLT"

You may also need to change the version of autocad to your version.
