We supply HV switchgear for substations and factories here in Australia.
Don't know about elsewhere but we use standard symbols wherever possible.
Which library you use would depend on your location.
For protection type relays with current and voltage inputs, we made blocks
with the correct number of inputs, then added them to the
catalogue and pinlist database's.
Contacts for these protection relays are the standard relay contacts that
come with electrical. With the main block as a parent, these blocks
may request a device family change (depending on what family you made the
protection relays). This won't affect any other instances of the
block that may be in the drawing, only the block in question.

What symbology do you use for your relay contacts and coils? Is it AutoCAD
Electrical library JIC125, or did you create your own or is there an IEEE
library of symbols that I can use?
