Din Rail in FT versus BOM Count

We are running ACE2004 at my company. Is there any way to get things such as Din Rail or Wireway in feet instead of a count on the Panel BOM's. We have to transfer the BOM material into SAP (Din Rail and Wireway are entered into SAP in feet) and the ACE generated Panel BOM is great for about 98% of the parts. Do any of the new versions of ACE handle these items in a length measurement? Right now, I have to go back to the drawing and add up the lengths of the individual items for entry into SAP.

I have been just rounding up to the nearest inch and inserting that number into the Count Field.

So, in reality, you still have to "measure" your din rail and ww? I was hoping there was a way to avoid doing this.

Yeah. That is what I have been doing. I have to "measure" it anyway when I insert it. I just take the value displayed in the Dinrail insert dialog box and put it into the count feild. It would be nice it this was done automatically.

This is really disappointing.

The software we are moving from had a way to do it in comjunction with crystal reports. We had the report include the length, and an extra field that had a 1 in it. Whenever the 1 was encountered, it took the length value instead.

The result was a total BOM of wireways by length, counted separately in mm (our current unit of measure) by the different types of wireway used in the panel.

What we'd also done was create a VB program that took the data and entered it into our accounting software, so the manipulation of data into the accounting BOM was not too bad.

I can't see the entire thread here but you *CAN* get rolled up lengh of
parts in stead of discreet quantity - i won't go into the whole details
but...

1) Add a parameter that represents length (probably a dimension if you
want it smart)
2) Document settings - change the UoM of mm
3) Map the new parameter to the "Base Quantity" option...

There are more things you should know but this is a good start 😉

Do some research on the BOM settings... it's very powerful.
