Database modifications

AcadE 2006... I'm trying to add tables to the default_cat.mdb database.

1. Is this possible?
2. What fields are required?
3. Can this be done in MS Access?

You can use MS Access. The quickest thing to do is copy a table for another
device type (i.e. PB, LT, etc.) and modify the 4th and 5th column titles to
suit your new device type. When you paste the table be sure and select the
option for Structure Only, not Structure and Data. The 4th and 5th columns
are used for filtering and their names may vary according to component type.
You will always want Manufacturing, the first filter field. But the 4th and
5th field might be TYPE and VOLTAGE for a light (LT) or TYPE and STYLE for a
pushbutton (PB). If you are adding a new category entirely, you may call
the 4th and 5th column whatever you wish. Just remember that these two and
Manufacturer are used for the filter sort when you click Lookup, so name
them with that fact in mind.
