Not sure what is going on here. Seems to be related to having the combined
Installation/Location tagging mode on. I will try and find out if there are
any logged issues. The cross-referencing itself seems to work fine. And
Surfing seems to list all the related components also. What version of AcadE
are you using?

Sorry for any inconvenience,
Pat Murnen

Hi, Pat,

Yep, the cross-referecing between components works fine, Surfing works fine too, but Cross-Reference Check tool doesn't work. Now I'm using ACE 2009 Service Pack 1, but this problem with Check tool I had on previous version (ACE 2008 Service Pack 1) too.

ACE Help says:
"Using the Cross-Reference Check tool (Components Cross-Reference Cross-Reference Check), AutoCAD Electrical first extracts a complete list of components from the project drawing set. Then it prompts you to select a component to check. AutoCAD Electrical reads the component's tag, finds all associated components, and lists them in a dialog..."

Mhm, maybe I'm doing something wrong or don't understand something...

Thanks for replay, Pat.

It doesn't look like you are doing anything wrong. It appears to be an issue
with the feature when the project is set to use Combined
Installation/Location tag mode. I have logged the issue.

How can I contact autodesk to solve this problem? Cross-Reference Check tool (AutoCad Electrical 2008) does not work. I tried everything written here. I can send them sample drawing. These original drawings were done in AutoCad 2000.

I noticed that the tags of the contacts are on the tagfixed layer. These contacts are children of the coil and should not be on tagfixed layer but on normal tags layer. This is a bug in the program.

To change layer go to:
Menu- Components |
components tagging |
fix/unfix component tag |
check "single edit toggle Fixed\Unfixed" |
OK |
Select object |
uncheck "make it fixed" |
OK |

Unfortunately you have to do this one by one to all the contacts, page by page. Save the drawings. |
Go to project manager icon |
Rebuilt Project database now |
Full Rebuilt. |
