Creation of 3 Phase Symbols

Can anyone tell me where to look for information on creating a 3 phase symbol. I can make and use single phase symbols but when I create a component for 3 phase use it always comes in has a single unit.

I have tried exploding a similar 3 phase object and modifying but when I recreate the symbol it no longer acts like a 3 phase symbol.

I'm not sure if this will help but look at the following support link: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?id=4479413&linkID=4199150&siteID=123112

If this doesn't help, you can run through creating/inserting a 3 phase motor using Chapter 4 of the Getting Started Guide (2006).

Thanks,

Thanks but I am familiar with all this. These references are for inserting a previously defined three phase symbol.

What I am looking for is making a new three phase symbol using the Black Box Symbol Builder.

Hi Carl,
Are you wanting to create a single, 3 pole component that pops in as a
single block with six wire connections or do you want to create a 3-pole
symbol that automatically pops in as a single parent pole symbol and two
child pole symbols and they auto-adjust to the underlying wires? Both are
possible. Let me know which (or neither) is what you're wanting to do.
thanks,
Nate.

The second of your options. One parent two childs that automatically adjust to fit into a three phase bus.

Thanks

Hi Carl,
The key to making this work automatically is naming your parent and child
symbol the same except for the 4th char. The parent needs to have a "1" as
the 4th character of the block name and the child have a "2" as this 4th
character. So, if you create a parent symbol called "HPH1XYZ.dwg", then you
need to name your child symbol "HPH2XYZ.dwg" for the multi-pole command to
be able to find and insert the child poles after the parent pole.

Does this make sense? Am I understanding the question? If not, please send
me what you've tried to make work and I'll take a look. You can send
privately if you'd like to nate.holt@autodesk.com.

thanks,
Nate.

This response is on the right track and is something I have not done. I will try again and send you the file if it is not successful. I will let you know later either way.
