Hi Lynne,
You are exactly right. The Cable From/To report (and regular From/To report)
has provision to report the from or to component connection's TAG, INST,
LOC, and wire connection TERMxx, and TERMDESCxx attribute values but not the
DESC1-3 attribute values. I will flag this as an item for consideration in a
future release.
But, in the meantime, there are some [not-so-attractive] options:
Option 1 - (easy) Use the INST attribute on each child connector and have it
carry a copy of the text you want to see in the report. Then include the
"INST1" and "INST2" fields in your cable from/to report.
Option 2 - (tedious) Add TERMDESCxx attributes to your special child
connector symbols where the "xx" matches the suffix on the TERMxx and
X?TERMxx attributes. You can hide each attribute if you want. Put your
special text on each instance of this attribute (tedious) and then include
the "PD1" and "PD2" fields in your report.
Option 3 - (more difficult) If you're not afraid to write a little AutoLisp
utility, modify the "cablecon.lsp" utility to query the project database,
grab the connector's DESC1-3 values, and reformat them into the report data.
Now, when you display your cable from/to report, pick on the "User Post"
button and the extra fields will display.
Nate.

Hello,
We often use drives and controllers that have quite a few connectors on
them. Too many to really show them physically coming off the device. I have
improvised by creating "child" connectors for Dsub 9, 25 etc. I like this
(in some cases better than using Pin/Jack symbols) because I have give the
connector the device name AND give the connector a unique description.
Now when I am running a cable to/from, I have no option to include a DESC01
line. So I don't know if the DRIVE01 pin 12 connection is coming from
(child) connector C3 or C1.
Any suggestions on a way out (a field I can put the DESC1 in that will show
on the report?
Thanks,
Lynne
