CHSPACE Express Tool crippled by ACADE

After inserting certain symbols in ACADE, the INSNAME system variable seems to be left with an invalid value. This value causes the CHSPACE (Change Space) Express Tool to fail. Changing the INSNAME to none fixes the problem until another ACADE Symbol is inserted. I have seen the problem in both ACADE 2004 and ACADE 2006. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution?

Can you give me any more detail such as a specific symbol or menu choice or
what makes it invalid? I might be able to see if there is a solution or at
least log the issue but I haven't been able to reproduce it yet.

One workaround might be to reset this variable on the menu choice that runs
the CHSPACE function, right before the call to the CHSPACE.

Upon further investigation, it seems that this problem happens when a Panel symbol is inserted, that uses the feature:"Auto-attribute add to footprint during insertion" (Help documentation from ACADE 2004, Chapter 13). The invalid INSNAME value is "*C:\program files\AC2004e\libs\SI_LIB\panel\wd_ptag_addattr_comp.dwg".

Thanks for the information. I will investigate what is happening here but
right now the only workaround I can see is to add the call to reset the
variable on the menu option that runs the CHSPACE function.

I was able to reproduce this problem as you describe in AcadE 2006. I wasn't
able to reproduce it in AcadE 2007, so the good news is that it appears
fixed. Let me know if you need any help applying the menu change to reset
the variable while you are still using 2006.
