Alternate Part Numbers

Many of my items have alternate part numbers (replacement parts) that can be used interchangeably. How you would go about assigning an alternate part to an item? This would have to be at the project level, and not in the default cat.

Thanks in advance.

A Couple of ways to go about this....

1. Put the alternate part numbers in the description lines. Further instances of the same part can use the PICK method of filling in the descriptions.

2. Add an attribute to one of the blocks. ACADE will automatically rename the block. Swap all the other original blocks of that type with the new block to have them all with the same attribute. Edit the block and go to the Miscellaneous Fields to enter the data. Do the same for any other blocks that require the same data added.

Both of these methods will allow you to hide the attribute if required.

The methods mentioned use a bit of brute force and may be a bit time consuming. If this is a common situation in your dwgs, you may want to change the default catalog to include this information in the user fields.
