AC Electrical Usage Questions

Our company builds various kinds of electrical control panels. We use AutoCAD for the drawings. We have AutoCAD Electrical 2007 but do not use the Electrical features since we don’t really know how to use them.

I have 2 questions of a general nature about Electrical.

  1. I know that Electrical can automatically place wire numbers on drawings. In the little experimentation we have done, Electrical determines what the wire numbers are and we don’t have any control of their content. We would like to be able to have wire labels of our own choosing. We would like them to be of the form To/From (example: TB1-1/TB9-7). Can Electrical be programmed to do this? How can we learn how to do this?
  2. I am under the impression that if one has a number of drawings in an Electrical project, you can make universal changes in the title blocks of all the drawings. Example: Change the date on each drawing in a single operation. We don’t know how to do this. How can we learn?

As you can see I am a real novice when it comes to Electrical. Thank you.

The Title Block Update is a good first start.

I have a script from Nate Holt from back in 07 that did the From/To desination on the wires. I'll do some testing this weekend and see if it still works on 2013. Sounds like a great blog post. In the mean time does anyone else have any ideas on his From/To wire numbers?

Thank you for your reply and the title block update link. I look forward to receiving From/To script from you. We aren’t using 2013 so that’s not an issue for us.

Thank you again,

This has been a crazy week. Sorry about not getting back to you sooner.

Here is my blog post about the script.

It's not quite what your after but may be a good work around since it puts the info in question on the page.

I attached the script here as well...
