I like using the edit label text in the lable styles to add additional text and information.
I can turn on / off the backroung mask for all the style but not each.
Is there a way to turn on / off the backround mask of each layout text.
I'm using civil 3d 2012 and testing 2013.

The text override only overrides the value of the text. The property you are looking for is a property of the text component in the label and that is not an option to override with the text. You would need to create a new label style (right click on the label style you are using and choose new and it will create a Child Style) and change the settings for it and then apply that style to your label.
