i have a ortho photo from a part of a highway which i like to get plotted on a drawing which is 5meters long x 1meter high.

in autocad paperspace the image is very accurate but when plotted or printed to pdf the quality is poor.

i have read some forum topics but i cant figure out a good way to get this plotted in high quality.

    any help?

    thanks!

I don't know if this is related to your case. But when this happens with HP Plotters. It's usually because the person is using the generic Windows plotter driver rather than the HPGL drivers from HP.

So I would probably suggest you check your plotter manufacturer's site for updated drivers.

What type of paper and plotter are you using?  Paper makes a huge difference.

    Miss Allen & Mr Thunder,

your hardware suggests do not matter in this case, because the OP said that quality is poor even printing to PDF file.

I'd rather advice to increase the resolution of PDF up to orthophoto's one (only display purposes) or decrease down to 100 dpi if you wanna plot it on long paper (seen from far away).

i am using an OCE printer.

indeed the resolution to pdf should be changed to something higher but i cant find how to do it.

the result should be visible from close by as well so i need a really good resolution. i guess 300 dpi is OK for printing.

note: i use mrSid files for the orthophotos, maybe here can be the problem to.

I was aware it was a stretch. But sometimes even an off the mark post can get the discussion rolling.

i devided the orthophoto in 3 smaller pieces using 3 different paperspaces showing different parts of the photo. when exported to pdf this gives a better result than the whole image at once. now, i just have to use tape to get them back together.

for me this solution is oke now but the problem isn't really fixed.

That sounds like a memory problem. Again, I'm not familiar with OCE. With HP there is a setting to resolve memory issues in the computer. See if there is a similar setting in your plotter driver.

I beg your pardon, sir, but in my whole life I saw a lot of Hollywood movies with such of Allen ones...

Since the beginning of my partecipation in this forum, I was convinced that you're a lady, wondering whether how a woman is so able to speak technically with us, rough cad-men.
    Now I know why...
