    Hi,

Anyone that knows this is under a Non-disclosure agreement.

However, Autodesk have set a pattern of releasing new version of their
AutoCAD based software in March/April each year for many years.

Your guess is as good as mine as to whether they will continue this pattern.

    Regards,

God I hope not, unless its a 64bit version with the EXACT SAME layout & menu structure of 2010, with all the bugs fixed, that'll have Win 7 as a supported OS.

Civil 3D 2010 is come around where R14 and Softdesk8 were in 1997.

So, 12 years to get object oriented programming through beta.

    I feel invested.

AutoDESK needs to seriously look at going back to a 4 year release cycle and getting the full product polished and working out of the box instead of slowly upgrading some featuers in its yearly release along with many many bugs. For example Release 14 (great product 98'), Release 2002 great product, change in 2006 lots of features working like batch plotting etc, 2010 finally get the new look and ribbon implemented properly and majority of features working. 2007, 2008 and 2009 were below par in deliverying productivity for our business. The next great version of AutoCAD will be release 2012 or 2014, the uneven number releases don't seem to cut it IMHO.

I here ya man, our company won't let us use a new version unless it has been reviewed with some of these questions:

    1. What does it offer that the current in use version doesn't, how will it benefit/hinder our production
    2. Service pack 1 must be released before upgrading to the new version.
    3. Has the API changed and if so how will it effect our integrated systems that rely on current structure.
    4. Can we upgrade individual work stations or must we do a complete company wide upgrade so vaulted data can be opened.
Work Station : Dell Precision R5400
    OS: Windows 7 Business 64 Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
    Processor Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5405 @ 2.00GHz, 1995 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
    BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. A05, 7/15/2010
Graphics Display Card: NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290 (256MB RAM)
    Memory: 8 GB

and very sensible questions they are too.

We are the same in our company. There is too much invested to get it wrong...even a little bit.

Yes, but... the 2010 Intersection Wizard is AWE-FREAKIIN'-SOME!!! If you are doing corridors with intersections, you gotta have 2010.
