Which Civil 3D book to purchase (if any)

    Greetings,

The information in the Civil 3D Help is usually enough to 'get by' with. But not every option is covered in detail with examples.

Is there maybe a comprehensive book on Civil 3D, published each time a new version is released?

If there is, does it include metric unit tutorials and examples?

Thanks in advance, have a great day,

    Kevin.

The Mastering Civil 3D 20?? series is very good with tutorials etc http://eu.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-1118281756.html and downloadable tutorial examples in metric and imperial.

I have the 2011 and 2012 editions and they are very useful

Don't forget Youtube as a valuable resource for tips/tricks/methods etc

    neilyj .. thx for replying...

now for the test .. please check your 2012 edition; Does it explain this well:

In Vertical and Horizotal Profile View Band Styles there is a 'Anchor to Label' option, the options are:

    Segment in Band and

    True Geometry Location

What is the difference? Does the book clearly explain? Do you know the difference?

I need an example to show the difference in these options (Vertical and Horizontal)

    Thx,

    All the best,

    Kevin.

Regarding the Vertical and Horizontal Geometry Band Styles, I don't think it is covered in the book actually but per the Civil 3D help:

    "Anchor label to

Specifies how labels are anchored in Profile View Horizontal Geometry and Vertical Geometry Bands.

    • Segment in Band anchors the label in the middle of the drawn segment, regardless of whether this is the true middle.
    • True Geometry Location anchors the label to the true middle of the item being labeled. If this location is not shown in the profile view, the label components anchored to that point are not shown either."

    : (

Its good to see that the authors are active here.

Maybe I am guilty of trolling in this instance as I was actually trying to get an example to clarify a setting in Civil 3D.

.. I still need an example showing the difference, maybe it can be included in the 2014 edition? Maybe?

    Thx all for your input

    : (

If anyone can provide an example showing clearly the difference provided by this setting (Vertical and Horizontal) then please add it to the following post:

    Best wishes to you all,
