AutoCAD Civil 3D

I'm new to the ribbon and have been using it for couple of weeks now.  So far I hate it but I'm determined to keep using it.  I recently found the "Where is my command?" link under the help menu.  The problem is it only shows Civil 3D commands.  Is there some way to have it show regular Autocad commnands as well ?

In case you were wondering, I was looking for the "textedit" command.  I did not see it in the modify pallet or under the annotate tab.  Can someone please point me to location of this command ?

Hit the big red C in the upper left corner and start typing. It will search the commands for whatever you type and will tell you where you can find the command. Also, if you select the command from that list, it will run that command.

TEXTEDIT command can be accessed by command line. One good tool for transition from menus and toolbars to ribbons is search box where you can start typing command and program populates the fields with available commands. See image:

That seems to work much better than the help menu.  Thanks for the tip.

I see that it found hatch but no textedit.  Whats up with that ?  I know I could modify the cui to get what I'm after but , this should be something included OOTB.

Yes, I know the command can be typed at the command line.  Your screen capture shows the text panel, but I do not see the textedit command on that panel.  Seeing how the ribbon is layed out, it would make since to have it located on the modify panel.

On another note.  If I type "textedit" in that box the following is returned.  Kinda confusing to say the least.

The Text Panel that's in the image posted is on the Express tab and no there is no textedit command there. Why is there no TEXTEDID on the ribbon? Maybe because the folks listed to most of the users and decide that we doulble click on mtext to edit witch is faster for some of us, or use the property palette for dim text or the battman command for attributes. But you know what? If you want a button on the modily panel you have the option to create it there for yourself using the CUI.

My personnel choice it either db clk or type it in.

Double click works fine for text objects but does not work the same for dimensions.  The properties pallet comes up instead for dimensions and scrolling to the text overide is a pain.  Guess I need to make my own.

I always simply typed 'ed' in the command line.  Looks like it still recognizes it as a command with an icon:

So you should be able to find the command with icon in the cui and make a button on the modify flyout.

Brian, Do you know if this worked cleanly in 2011? I had never tried it until today and when I start typing in text it crashes me out of C3D if I have a drawing open. I did try it without a drawing open and it seems to work as far as giving me a listing of all the commands it is searching through.
