What is the best way to create a design surface?

I need help creating a design surface from an original surface. The current method I am using is taking alignments and adjusting the elevations on the profile. I would add the alignment as a breakline to create the design surface. Is there a simple way to create a design surface?

Look at help and tutorials on Corridors and Corridor Surfaces.

Or you can use Feature Lines.

After I change the elevation of the profile, I change the alignment to a feature line.  Then I add the line as a breakline to the surface.

Design surface is quite a broad term. All the other suggestions apply.

But could you elaborate on what constitutes your design surface? Parking lot , roadway, subdivision, mining, basins, landfills? There is just so many ways to skin this.

    Thank you
