I am using AutoCad C3D. I have drawn a building and now I am trying to position the building on a plot with uneven property lines using only “tie distances” from the spots on the property to specific spots of the building.
I do not know which C3D program functions (with just distances known) to get the building placed properly on the plot. Help! Thx

Did you just try the _ALIGN command..?

I have 5 tie lines; can I use _Align to enter all 5? How do I select/enter them all together so all 5 constraints are met?

I don't know if align has a limit to source/ destination, but 5 offsets should give sufficent layout to place the building

If you have drawn the building and the dimensions on it are fixed, all that should be neeeded is to determine two points on the site using the offset command from the property lines. When you use the Align command to those two points you can see how the other points match. With fixed geometry for the builidng, you may be able to shift the building to better match some of the tie distances, but will probably not be able to match all of them.

I have a fixed building and the building site. I need to position the building onto the site and satisfy the 5 tie distances. I have not yet dropped the tie points onto the building nor site. That's where I'm stuck. I've attached a sketch.

What seems to be the problem?
Presumably there are dimensions along the building where those tie line intersect. What have you tried?
post a drawing.

Surely this is not located to Rocket Science accuracy. From your picture it appears a rectangle. Draw a closed polyline to the dimensions of the building and and drag it around until it works.

Most of these questions can be reduced back to simply: what would you do if it was on paper? Answer: draw an arc from the tie point at the radius of the tie, offset a parallel line at the required distance.
I'd use the circle and offset commands and find some intersections.

Yes. Circles is what I'd use. I can't see why anyone would tie off a house like that. But if I had that info to work with that's what I'd do. It looks like the 2 ties in front may be parallel to that property line. So that's where I'd start.
