System freezes

I have a new machine which has the following hardware:
ASUS M4A79T Deluxe motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU
mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 memory
AMD FireGL v3600
SATA Hard drive
Wireless Microsoft KB/Mouse
650 watt power supply.
Windows XP professional sp3
Civil 3D 2009 SP 2
I updated the motherboard bios to the latest version. I also updated the drivers to the latest version (motherboard and video). I still have a problem where the user will have a drawing open and when they pan, the system will freeze. Of course this is an intermittent problem and I cannot duplicate the problem. Sometimes he will walk away from his computer and it will freeze when he comes back. I figured it may be the screensaver, so I disabled it...no joy. The system is not overheating so this is not the problem.
Any suggestions?
