Surface points added from file, can I change their style ?

I can only change the layer color.

But I can't change the cross simbol, its drwaing scale.

Also cant view the point number,....

Maybe I cant view or set these properties when points were added using   "Point Files" option.??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

If you add points to a surface from a file, they go directly into the surface and don't become COGO points that can be labeled or numbered. We do this to keep the file size down. If you need to number and label these points, then import them as COGO points and then add them to the surface.

Ok, but please think on it at future C3D versions Thanks.

If you want to see the point information, add the points to the drawing, not to the surface. You can still use those imported points in the surface.

Like Jeff said, if you want those points to have numbers and labels, then import the file as COGO points and then add the COGO points to the surface. However, if you are just looking to make a surface from the points, then you can import the file directly to the surface and skip this step. This is how the product was designed to work.

As you've seen. These points don't have numbers or descriptions. But if you want to change their appearance you can do that here:

    Thanks to everybody.

But do you think that an access to a label representation at the surface-style.points tabs would not be an excess, isnt it ?

Honestly. Yes, it would be. The purpose of being able to attach a point file to create  Surface without importing them is to cut down on the overhead. If you make the Surface points behave as cogo points you're not saving any resources. If you want them to behave like cogo points then import them as cogo points.

What you can do for sites that are mainly  undeveloped is to filter your point files externally using Excel or similar. Put all the ground shots in one file and all the shots on features that need to be identified in another. Import the points that you need to see point number and description as cogo points. Attach the ground shots directly to the surface. That way you save on the number of points needed in the drawing and still can work with the ones you need to see the information on.

Points that are added to a surface from a file don't carry a point number or description or a style so adding a label to them wouldn't add any information to the drawing.

Adding points directly to the surface from a file was designed as a way to get bulk ground shots into the file. If you need to label all these point, then first import the file as COGO points and then add the COGO points to the surface. This is how the program was designed to work.

You can change the marker that is used for the surface points if you would like. You can also add spot elevation labels to the surface if you want to label elevation.

    Peter,

Was that addressed to me or a comment on the thread in general? What you wrote seems to me IOW what I did. That is how it's supposed to work and is a valuable tool for working with large data sets.
